Look at God!!!! My oldest and youngest both reminded me recently to stay in the present. Relax in the here and now. Yassssssss!!! Thank you, Holy Spirit, I hear you.
Totally feel you. Thanks for sharing. Yea I feel like its really hard when you're trying to change or improve an area of your life because you know you can do better, but you are surrounded by people who are used to you being a certain way. You inevitably have to put yourself in an uncomfortable situation to overcome this. You won't be able to attract the right social interactions and connections until you break your old habits and step outside your comfort zone. I think this will inevitably be an anxiety inducing situation, but there are tools to make it go smoother.
One tool would be surrounding yourself with people who are on the same path you want to be on or are already doing what YOU want to be doing. If you don't know these people in real life, use Youtube, Audiobooks and Books to familiarize yourself with the kind of habits and characteristics such people have. After enough association, these things tend to rub off from what I've observed and you'll probably start exuding similar qualities and attract friendships and relationships who are in alignment. I've learned a ton from people on Youtube hahah. My "Mentors"/ "Friends" from a distance haha. Just my two cents. Hope this helps in some way.
@Nessa Dove, you got me over here high fiving the air and dancing in my chair. You dropped some powerful put into action truth. Thank you, and Love you all so much.
I think what makes me the most anxious or overwhelmed is a combo of two things: 1. Non fufilling social interactions. 2. Not pursuing my goals the way I know I should.
This is how these two things connect:
I try my best to prioritize where I go and who I hang with in life, I'm thankful for those who I stick with that make me better and aren't enablers. However, we all have (or have had) acquaintences that drain your energy and aren't on the same type of path you're on. For example, if you're trying to work on time management, you'll naturally come into flux with those that aren't, by definition their standard is lower.
I guess what I'm saying is, a big part of my life right now is achieving certain goals, and it stresses me out when I have to turn down sociap advances from acquaintences who don't know me as well as they think and don't understand why I don't want to stay up past two am.... Why did I even write this?! Gah.
@Danielle Archer/TheArtistMinds Thanks so much for sharing. This is a simple yet effective way to get our brain to focus! With anxiety it really can feel like the world is caving in, and our thoughts spin out of control. This is a great tool to have during such times.
When we experience anxiety, it can take us out of the present, almost disassociate us. There is a simple exercise that I like to start people with - it is also really inconspicuous so you can do it anywhere. In times where you are feeling great anxiety, you can reflect on your five senses - for example (I am basing this on where I am now):
(Sight) I see my backyard through the window
(Sound) I hear my kids playing in the next room
(Smell) I smell dinner coming from the kitchen
(Taste) I taste the soda I just drank
(Touch) I can feel the seat cushion underneath me, my feet touching the floor, and my hands on my computer
By doing that, it places us back in the here and now. And while it may not immediately "cure" the anxiety episode, it brings us to the present and out of our heads, and move us to a place where we can address the anxiety and even challenge the negative thoughts we may be having.
Ahhh yes! This is one for me too. Learning to “Stay Present” is everything. Have you read “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle? Great book! Talks about staying present, not worrying about the future or the past, staying in the “now”.
I find that when I feel like I have no control I begin to get anxious. But I try to remember I have the choice to stay present and recognize that I am safe and nothing is happening in the moment, I am able to come back to earth and stop the worry. I am able to step back and find someone to help me sort things out. I can choose how I react. And that helps me to combat the anxiety of all the what ifs.
@Teru Ikeda Absolutely! Great point. I feel like having anxiety has literally made me into a better person. And when anxiety levels are high, it forces me to look at things more holistically and make adjustments to be a better me. I love this shift in perspective. Anxiety can be a good thing? Lol
@Nessa Dove This response made me do a "Did I already write a response second glance at the screen for a good 30sec" 🤣 Yes, Yes, Yes, It causes me to look within. Operating from within an area of lack will cause anxious moments. For me, I'm growing and becoming every day to have fewer moments when the anxiety of life tries to creep in by adjusting my mindset to rejoicing in the present moment. Now, when I see a worrying moment try to move closer, I level up and adjust to a higher frequency of gratitude. @Teru Ikeda 🔥
I'm like.. Yep, you got me. Lol🤣

#tooreal. This is me all day as well. Even if its an awesome false world! hahah. (Visioneering, and Imagining the future ahead). I need to remember to stay present. Here and Now. @L.O.W @betherebelmusic @Danielle Archer/TheArtistMinds @Elwood @Lequita Sharrock @mandyalicia83
For me, it’s thinking too far ahead and creating a false world in the mind. Learning to keep it in the moment 😁
If I don't get adequate sleep and then work at my job, which I already struggle with.

Also, bigger things like not feeling connected spiritually, or to myself or to my purpose or other people 😕
I get super anxious if I haven’t slept enough, or had anything with too much caffeine 😬😬 #jittery
